THE SETTING

This old farmhouse, entirely restored, is the only holiday home inside Vendicari Natural Park a stone throw from its wonderful, intimate beaches. The site offers unique views, silence, relaxation and the most beautiful sea in Sicily.
The excellent restoration has maintained the simple spirit of country life whilst protecting the magical surroundings of the site. Everything is well integrated in the surrounding environment, from the swimming pool converted from an old trough, to the two pergolas, one facing the kitchen and the other by the swimming pool, offer pleasant shade and jasmine perfume to accompany your al fresco dining and relaxing.

THE HOUSE
The villa develops over two floors. The ground floor hosts a comfortable kitchen with direct access to the outside and a spacious and romantic living room with fireplace, and a large dining table comfrtably seating 8. The ground floor also hosts two double rooms with en-suite bathrooms (one with shower and the other with bath).
A little wooden staircase in above in the kitchen leads to the master bedroom, with its own bath and shower and a wide roof terrace offering the most privileged views over the reserve with its Tonnara and thousands of beautiful migratory birds, like the pink flamingos and many varieties of herons.

WHAT'S UNIQUE ABOUT LA FAVOLA
The house is ideal for nature lovers who will appreciate relaxing days in the most delicate and authentic environs, yet having culturally and artistically rich towns like Noto at less than 15 minutes drive away.
Particularly appealing about this house, is the private, secret access it enjoys to the Natural Reserve beaches, a peaceful corner of paradise even on busy summer days, when most other beaches of the area are way too busy.

WHEN'S A GOOD TIME TO STAY AT LA FAVOLA
Being the house fitted with central heating and a fabulous fireplace, it is ideal for mild winter breaks. The temperature here in Winter is rarely below 15°C, and very often reaches over 20° C in the day. October to May are in fact the best periods to visit this area for many reasons.

The sky is much brighter, with clearer colours, the temperature is ideal for visiting the many fascinating Baroque cities and Greek ruins, for trekking in the marvellous Cava d’Ispica but mainly because it is the time when most beautiful birds stop at the Oasis.

Vendicari is a protected Oasis for migratory birds, and the sight of pink flamingos first thing in the morning in the winter is priceless!

THE AREA

This corner of Sicily has to be the last undiscovered paradise. It is magnificently verdant all the year round with its lemon and olive groves and enjoys the mildest of climates. The architectural and cultural wealth of the South East enhances this beauty even further. Add to this great restaurants and superb local wines and you have the perfect holiday destination.

The driveway to the house crosses some of the most beautiful farmland in southern Sicily, lined by citrus trees and olive groves, belonging this noble family’s estate. The gravel road is very good and there is no need for 4 wheel drive cars.

The closest supermarkets are in Noto. There is a very good small supermarket on the main road before Noto just minutes from the house and a good selection of butchers and fishmongers in Noto, Rosolini and Pachino. There is an amazing food market in Siracusa and a world famous one in Catania where all the locals buy their produce.

Restaurant: Baglieri al Mare Lido di Noto, La Cialoma on the Piazza of Marzamemi and the Torre Marabino in Ispica the Caffee sicilia in Noto and the Lounge bar Anche gli Angeli in Noto.
 

ECO-FRIENDLINESS

The house being set within the natural park Oasi di Vendicari, its restoration was carried out in full respect of the building's original rural architecture, the outside kept its original structure and look, no materials were used that could intoxicate or disturb in any way the flora and fauna of the reserve, and most materials were recycled from the original building. Water is from a well.
